Tera Release Date

Posted by: Matthew   in TERA Guide, Uncategorized

tera-release-date

Just a month into the year 2012, En Masse has finally announced the release date for TERA Online. The expected release date is May 1, 2012 in North America with a European release following 2 days later, May 3rd. Like any other MMO, there will be a standard collection and of course a Collectors Edition. Really can’t wait to see what will be in the collectors edition. With all the beautiful gameplay and artwork, I wonder whats in stall for the Collectors Edition.

TERA caught they eye of many and attracted new and old mmo gamers. With the game using unreal engine, and focused on a skill-based combat system, TERA is deemed to be filled to action and smooth gameplay. An example would be when shooting a fireball, the fireball will not just automatically track the target, but you actually have to aim it!! The same thing goes for all other skills and mechanics.

If you’re interested, head over and sign up here at the TERA closed beta.

TERA Slayer Guide

Posted by: Matthew   in TERA Classes

A new MMORPG is reputed to be coming to the Western Market in 2011. It has many classes, some traditional and some new, to offer the avid gamer. The world looks rich and immersive from the races to the lore.

As a gamer myself, I was very interested in some of the descriptions offered for the classes. I play social role playing games. Unlike many traditional gamers who would play a strong fighter, often slow to mobilize with heavy armor, with intelligence as a dump statistic I tend to prefer a highly mobile fighter with dexterity and high damage who attacks in a strategic fashion.

TERA seems to be a game designed to blend both immersive gaming and real time responses and if that is the case, then the TERA Slayer class is very interesting as it holds the components I prefer to build into my fighters. The class wears light armor and wields a greatsword. The TERA Slayer, as I expected to see with a light armor restriction, favors high mobility.

For those who prefer the damage dealing classes of other games, called DPS which stands for Damage Per Second, and who prefer to deal their damage out while standing toe to toe in melee combat, the TERA Slayer looks to be the way to go. For all that the class appears highly mobile and deals high damage numbers, it does not have the look or the feel of a rogue or ninja type class. It’s hard to say though how the class will feel until the testing is opened or the game releases.

Most of the TERA Slayer skills mentioned seem to focus on circular attacks with the greatsword, kicks, and yelling. The TERA Slayer is described as an aggressive class which seems to indicate to me that the advantage against a foe will require quick actions and positioning so as to lay on the pressure and keep the opponent pinned down on the battle map.

As the game hasn’t released yet, I wasn’t able to tell if there would be player versus player applications but if there were, it would seem like the TERA Slayer is ideal for staying in the opponent’s face and hassling or harrying the enemy.

I think the TERA Slayer will be an interesting class to play. It certainly appeals to me in the qualities and attributes that are built into the class.

TERA Archer Guide

Posted by: Matthew   in TERA Classes

There’s a new MMORPG coming to the Western consumer market in 2011. The game TERA is a combination of being the hero of a story and acting rapidly to execute combat maneuvers to bring the player into an immersive world filled with adventure.

There are many race and class combinations available. I’m most interested in the classes, though, as I tend to play the same classes no matter what race I choose. In this world, there are several unique and new premises for a character class and its niche in the party. I am very glad to find the TERA Archer as a traditional standby for gamers who enjoy dealing death from afar.

The TERA Archer is permitted to wear only light armor and wields bows. The light armor makes for a mobile character who must execute tactical attacks from a ranged vantage point using arrow strikes and traps. Any attempt to play the character in close melee will likely require the gamer to take elusive evasive maneuvers to re-establish distance in this action filled combat.

The TERA Archer will fill the role of DPS, that is Damage Per Second. Experienced gamers will quickly recognize the class exists to fill a pure damage dealing role. The TERA Archer will appeal to those who like to demolish the opponent in quick order.

A rapid purview of the TERA site indicates that the TERA Archer’s abilities will include piercing armor attacks. This is to be expected as traditionally in real world as in video game worlds, arrows normally possess pointy ends for finding weak spots in armor or being aimed to incapacitate the opponent. The game also includes other abilities such as explosive arrows and traps which utilize fire or ice as energy.

Traditional table top gamers might even be inclined to associate the TERA Archer with the original role of a bowman who uses spells imbued in arrows to combat the opponent. This adds another element to the action oriented MMORPG and will serve to give players using the class some excitement beyond high damage numbers. Action games traditionally incorporate strategy and on the move planning as situations change in an instant depending on the artificial intelligence and abilities of the opponent.

The TERA Archer should definitely be able to adjust tactics on the fly while using their mobility to position themselves for the best advantage on the field of battle.

TERA Priest Guide

Posted by: Matthew   in TERA Classes

TERA is a Korean MMORPG coming to the Western market in 2011, at least that’s the plan. It looks to be a fairly interesting game with a good selection of role and class combination. TERA Priest is one of the classes being offered to the gamer to play.

I frequently play support roles in the games I choose to play with others, so TERA Priest was appealing to me upon initial examination. The TERA Priest has a twofold role to fill. First, the TERA Priest supports the party with healing and bringing party members back from the status of death. Second, the TERA Priest can assist in doing damage to the party’s target, of course as a support class with a focus on healing, the damage component will be smaller compared to a class that is not a hybrid. In general, hybrid classes tend to have lesser strengths than pure classes but that’s a discussion for another kind.

Gamers will have an easy time associating with the restrictions placed upon TERA Priests, such as the armor type being restricted to cloth. It has been the case typically in most games from a role playing origin to follow similar conventions with regards to armor and spell capabilities.

What looks interesting about this game is that it combines the allure of the role playing game with a true action game. That combined with the TERA Priest and the role’s multitude of skills to be used and mastered means the priest position may well hold the fascination of gamers who like a challenge and take pride in letting their skills shine in an environment with others.

Gamers can be competitive with each other and take pride in their skills. Healers in general can make or break a game. So the TERA Priest seems like it will certainly provide opportunities for those who want to prove themselves. Healers in general tend to be backbones of any party in a multi-player environment.

The TERA Priest looks like it will be a fun opportunity to explore in this new world. TERA definitely looks appealing and has a sleek look to the graphics and game play. There’s enough of the traditional role play game associations to make a new gamer approach and feel comfortable in taking up the mantle of a TERA Priest but there’s also enough innovation to provide fresh, new fun to the experienced gamers.

TERA Sorcerer Guide

Posted by: Matthew   in TERA Classes

TERA: The Exiled Realm of Arborea is a MMORPG (massively multiplayer on-line role playing game) set in the dreams of two primal gods, called Arun and Shara. It is made by Bluehole Studios and En Masse Entertainment.

When I play, I prefer to play as a TERA Sorcerer. The Sorcerer class uses magic rather than brawn to defeat her opponents. Once you level up a TERA Sorcerer a few times, they become quite a force to be reckoned with. The sorcerer can use fire, ice, or arcane energy to attack her opponents in battle, but wears little to no armor and so must be very adept at dodging. The best way to play a TERA Sorcerer is to attack your opponents with ranged attacks so you can stay out of the way of damage.

TERA Sorcerers are indispensable when playing in a group. They act as the artillery for the team, delivering precision ranged attacks to their foes and ending battles quickly. Like many other games, it takes mana to cast spells, so make sure you have a good supply! The sorcerer uses an arcane disk that floats in front of her to focus her magic power into fire, ice, or energy attacks. She can also set magical traps or lay curses on her opponents. Even at level 1, the TERA Sorcerer comes with a few very powerful spells; a fireball with a 15 meter range, and a short range attack called Flame Column which dishes out a large amount of damage in a short amount of time.

Some players might find it hard to aim at first. I had a little bit of trouble when I first started until I noticed that next to the aiming reticle there is a distance meter, which helped me out planning my ranged attacks. You will notice that the crosshair gets bigger when an enemy is in range, letting you know that it is time to unleash some magical fury their way. It takes some time to get used to playing the TERA Sorcerer and to learn how to use it to its full potential, but it is worth it. Many players say that the side with the most adept sorcerers wins the engagement because of the sorcerer’s supportive role in most battles. Besides devastating attacks, sorcerers can also use their magic to cast protection or healing spells on their team mates, making them a necessary addition to any group.

Tera Lancer Guide

Posted by: Matthew   in TERA Classes, TERA Guide

The Lancer class is suitable for anyone who enjoys attacking enemies while at the same time protecting allies. The Tera Lancer class is one that is powerful in both areas at the same time, a strong defense as well as a fierce fighter. Besides single target attacks, the Lancer class is also known to attack multiple targets at once.

Common class skills include those such as drawing aggro to attract the attention of enemies from more fragile allies. With that special ability, the Lancer tends to end up being the head of army formations. Having a Lancer in parties can only be a plus and a plus, especially if there’s also a healer to refresh the party’s tank. The main weapon used by the Lancer class is the lance along with a shield that is also used as a weapon at times.

Protected by heavy armor, the Lancer is a solid wall of metal but may not be one of the faster classes in the game. The class is also capable of taking on more damage than the Warrior class. The class is basically a tank. Skill-wise, the Lancer boast abilities such as shield parries, bashes and aggro shouts.

Tera Berserker Guide

Posted by: Matthew   in TERA Classes, TERA Guide

The Berserker’s main weapon is the axe, making him a closed-ranged DPS. Gamers who enjoys slashing away and dealing lots of damage would enjoy this class. For anyone who prefers being fast on their feet, the Tera Berserker might not be the best choice give the heavy armor that comes with the class.

Some of the skills featured by this powerful class are those such as shaking the grounds below your enemies and blindly slash and hack away into a sea of army. The best synonym for the class is probably the word, juggernaut. This is one class in Tera that wields the most powerful weapon in the world of Tera. The Berserker class is able to fight off enemies using a two-handed axe. Similar to the Lancer class, Berserkers wear the heaviest armor out there in order to fend off blows (ignore attacks that is) and focus on dealing critical attacks on enemies instead.

Besides being a skilled fighter, the class actually posses some useful support skills and can be quite fast with their movements. A Tera Berserker’s abilities mostly include attack skills such as charged strikes, stuns, overhead strikes and other skills in that area.

TERA Guide to the Playable Classes

Posted by: Matthew   in TERA Classes, TERA Guide

The wonderful and remarkable world of TERA Online is soon to be released for play! This means that people can actually get prepared for the awesome TERA Online Classes that will be at their disposal. This game actually has a few new types of characters never before seen in an online game, but uses some of the traditional characters as well. This means that the TERA Online Classes cater to the players who enjoy the base classes, as well as those who wish there was something more. There are eight classes to choose from, each with its own special abilities that the other classes cannot have.

The mystic combines both melee and magical fighting all in one. The ability to self-heal early in the game gives this class an advantage over the others as it will not die nearly as much. What could possibly be better than a character that can kill, heal the party, and heal itself?

The warrior will always be found in any game. It is just a simple fact of life. However, in TERA Online the warrior not only wears light armor and has the swiftness of a rogue, the warrior can wield two weapons with no problem – and no negative effects.

Archers make up the brunt of distance fighting in any game, regardless of the fact that they usually have no magic or armor. The archers in this game not only have a fantastic selection of ranged skills, they can actually create and use traps much like rangers and rogues.

The priest is the main healing addition to any party, much like a cleric in other games. Whether they are shooting monsters with holy spells from a distance, or rushing into combat to heal a tank, they are always an essential and welcome part of a party. Their staves also give them added skill in this game, unlike any other game before.

Slayers are the bane of creatures that have disrespect for lightly armored characters. Mixing the lethal skills of a berserker with the defense of a warrior, the slayers have the ability to not only fly through battle, but to strike enemies in their weakest point possible.

Much loved and adored the sorcerer finds its own special place within the TERA Online Classes. These warriors of magical energy, fire, and ice are more a part of magic then other classes similar to it. Upon entering the lands of TERA this character has a very useful and extremely speedy fireball attack that benefits for quite some time.

TERA Guide to the Amani

Posted by: Matthew   in TERA Amani

Tera Online Amani are the descendents of powerful dragons. Gifted with immense strength, the Amani value personal liberty above all things, and know the price of freedom firsthand. Willing to defend their freedom as a people from any threats that stand in their way, the Amanis are a proud and tenacious race.

While their imposing stature and draconic features are intimidating, they are a kindhearted race who value their allies and never break promises. Winning the allegiance of the Tera Online Amani is a daunting task, but one that is well worth it, for the word of the Amani will last through the flames of warfare and peacetime alike.

A newer member of the Federation, the Aman seek to bring freedom to the other races. They have forged strong allegiances with Humanity, seeking to liberate the world. Unlike humans, however, they have no desire for the world to be ruled under one banner. They are mightily suspicious of the High Elves and their imperialist history, worried that they may once again attempt to conquer the world with their massive military force.

The Amani cherish all peoples in their society, but warriors and berserkers are held in the highest regard. Any Amani who takes up a blade or axe to defend his countrymen and his honor is seen as a walking legend among men. The craftsmen of the Amani race show great respect to their warriors, using arcane techniques to craft some of the most powerful weapons available.

Taking control of the Aman, one must forge an alliance with the mortal races to ensure that the Aman and all peoples of the world will forever be liberated and free of imperial control. The Amani are a proud warrior race with a rich history, and are quick to align themselves with allies who rise to battle beside them. For more information about the available races, Tera Online Guide is worth a visit.
